Inverse Problems and Applications

June 3-9, 2002
Cortona, Italy

Organizers
Giovanni Alessandrini (Università degli Studi di Trieste, Italy)
Gunther Uhlmann (University of Washington, USA)

PHOTO ALBUM

Inverse problems arise in practical situations such as medical imaging, exploration geophysics, and non-destructive evaluation where measurements made in the exterior of a body are used to deduce properties of the hidden interior.  In the last couple of decades there have been substantial developments in the mathematical theory of inverse problems.

The purpose of the workshop is to bring together people working on different aspects of the field, to appraise the current status of development and to encourage interaction between mathematicians and scientists and engineers working directly with the applications.

This workshop is organized in conjuction with the Special Session 22

Inverse Boundary Problems and Applications

at the

AMS-UMI First Joint International Meeting

which has been held in Pisa (Italy) from June 12 to 16, 2002. The session on Inverse Boundary Problems and Applications at the AMS-UMI meeting has been held on Saturday June 15, 2002 and information on this session, such as list of speakers, program and abstracts of the talks are posted on this server and can be reached by following the link above.

palazzone

Venue

The workshop has taken place at the Palazzone, a monumental palace, located in Cortona (Italy), which is owned by the Scuola Normale Superiore and is under the protection of the Ministero dei Beni Culturali and Ambientali.
